What does it mean to design textiles today?
How are traditional techniques and innovation coming together to shape the future of fabrics?
Discover how technical excellence and artistic expression merge in Polimoda’s textile labs – where looms, threads, colors, and stitches are the tools for imagining tomorrow’s textiles.
From fibre to garment, this 60-minute session takes participants on a journey through the full spectrum of textile creation.
The conversation will unfold across two major topics that have been gaining momentum in recent collections: printing and innovative fashion design processes.
This free online webinar, coordinated by Arianna Mereu, leading teacher of the Master in Textile Design at Polimoda, offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the school’s unique approach to textile education, sharing insights directly from the professors who guide our students’ creative journeys, and showing an incredible variety of textile artifacts produced by our students during their Master course.

From Thread to Imagination:
A Journey Through Contemporary Textile
Between Craft and Innovation
"Ever since I was young, I was obsessed with the idea of being a Renaissance man, a jack of all trades or a cultivator of crafts. The mere thought of having to sacrifice many facets of culture that I loved so I could settle on one was not only something shocking to me, but it was a construct I actively fought against. When I first arrived in Florence, I felt an almost cathartic breath of reassurance — an inexplicable wholeness of what seemed like destiny or homecoming."
